Are you about to hit the “post” button? Stop right there! One last check could well save you from disaster! On the Social Media, the slightest mistake can turn a top into a flop. The We Are COM team shares his adages with you! A checklist that could save your credibility. 😉
#1 – Posting without intention is losing direction
“Why am I posting?”
It is important to have a specific goal, a publication without a vocation is a bit like a GPS without a destination. Do you want to engage, inform, entertain, transform, raise awareness… If you yourself don't know where you're going with this, how could your audience guess?
#2 – He who wants to say everything ends up producing nothing
“Is my message understandable?”
A social media message should be simple and quick to the point. In the realm of social media, where scrolling is king, don't waste your targets' time (and energy). Didn't Steve Jobs say " Keeping it simple is probably the most sophisticated goal in the world."?
#3 – Blur and pixel, engagement at the end of the tunnel
“What about my visual?”
Image or video, don't neglect the visual that accompanies your post, it's the first thing that Internet users will see. Favor quality illustrations, beautiful and striking, even funny. Anything goes to catch the reader's eye. On the practical side, also check that your visual complies with the codes and dimensions of the platform broadcast.
#4 – Sloppy spelling, goodbye credibility
“Have I proofread my text enough?”
Nothing is more damaging to the credibility of a brand than a spelling mistake. Make sure to proofread your texts carefully, and if necessary, have them proofread. In short, your text must be im-pe-cable! 👌
#5 – Encouraging movement means creating engagement
“Is my CTA explicit enough?”
Now is the time to clearly explain to your audience what to do. Visibility, simplicity and purpose: your call-to-action must make you want to click, it gives meaning to your publication.
#6 – Well-chosen tone, key to harmony
“Is the tone appropriate?”
Adapting the tone to your audience is essential. Whether you opt for a casual or formal tone, your audience must understand you and, above all, feel understood. The secret is to speak to your audience the way they like to be spoken to.
#7 – Irrelevant, no resonance
“Are my hashtags relevant?”
On social media, the hashtag is a key to your visibility. The key word is “relevance”. Adding tags without links to the content of your message is counterproductive. Especially since today it is recommended not to overuse hashtags, under penalty of being identified as a spam account! 😱
#8 – He who posts at midnight, gets little noise
“Is my timing optimal?”
What's the point of creating great content if it never gets seen? Study your audience's information consumption patterns to determine the right time to publish. And who says more views, says more likes and shares and therefore even more views. 😊
#9 – Broken link, broken promise
“Are my links working?”
After all the effort it takes to craft the perfect post, what could be worse than sending your target audience to the wrong page? A broken link is a broken promise and guaranteed frustration. We can't say it enough: check and recheck your links!
#10 – Rules of the game mastered, visibility assured
“Is my post compliant with regulations?”
Finally, make sure your post complies with the specific rules and codes of the platforms you post on. Violating this legislation risks removal.
Beyond social networks, also consider consulting the codes that govern digital communication more generally: influence campaigns, copyright, partnerships, etc.
If everything is OK, you can publish! ✅
