The digital divide refers to the gap between individuals who have access to the Internet and others and which has strong impacts on access to information and culture. This “divide” can exist between countries but also within each of them. It can be explained by technical (lack of infrastructure), economic (cost of internet access) or cultural (age of the populations concerned, lack of training) reasons.
