Ancestor of the newspaper and name of the first French weekly information sheet (created in 1631 by Théophraste Renaudot). The term "gazette" comes from the Italian gazetta, which designates a small Venetian currency, corresponding to the price of a newspaper. Today, the gazettes are devoted to social facts and current events and are increasingly rare.
