Definition: MPEG is the acronym for the “Moving Picture Experts Group” whose work made possible the definition, in 1990, of the MPEG standard, which was adopted by most of the major international manufacturers. This standard concerns the compression, decompression, processing and encoding of video, audio and their combination, so as to satisfy a wide range of applications.
