Definition: It is ancestor of the forum! A newsgroup (or news group), or discussion group, is a grouping of articles on the same topic and made available on a Usenet. The latter is a networked forum system invented in 1979. It allows users to create online communities and access information in the easiest and fastest way (at the time). As early as 1990, newsgroups were overtaken by Internet forums. However, they are still accessible on the web via interfaces such as Google Groups or Nemo News.
