Definition: A shot is a continuous shot. There are several types of shot: the general shot to film the inside in its entirety; the overall plan to better privilege the characters; the character-centered half-set shot; the medium shot offering a full length framing of the character; the American plan (known as “Western”) fits on the bust of the character; the tight shot at the level of the character's shoulders; the big plan (or “close-up”) is a zoom on a part of the body (the head); the very close-up is an even greater zoom (the gaze); the bird's-eye view is tilted from top to bottom; and finally the low-angle shot is viewed tilted from bottom to top.
