TV ratings

Definition: Device connected by the French company Médiamétrie to the television set of a certain number of households (sample) in order to measure the respective audience of the different channels. In 1987, it was replaced by the Mediamat which allows individual audimetry and no longer by household. The use of the word has imposed itself to designate, in an often unfavorable way, less polls on television audiences, than the use that can be made of it by those in charge of a channel when they determine the schedule of broadcast programs.
